February Topic: Fridge Magnets and Magnetic Name Tags
If you can make an ornament, you can make a magnet!
This month, I’ll be showing you how to turn your needlepoint into sleek magnets.
The biggest mistake I see when people try to make magnets is a bumpy back where the magnet is either glued onto the back fully exposed and easy to knock off or just under the fabric leaving a bump and preventing a smooth flat finish. This means that the finished magnet won’t sit flush on the surface and might leave an unsightly gap.
I’ll be showing you how to create magnetic pieces that are a bit more polished with no visible magnet. These can be use like traditional fridge magnets or paired with another magnet to create wearable pins and name tags.

This month, I’m excited to host Ashley Vestergren from Stitchwheel, Stitch Tent, The Pine Needle and Prepsetter!
Ashley is one of the busiest and most impressive people I know. She’ a designer and one of the individuals behind a popular canvas painting service, Stitchwheel, where artists send designs for painting. We will have the opportunity to discuss what happens on the backend after an artist sends their request and how Stitchwheel has ramped up their services to meet the surging canvas demand.
She is also one of the faces behind Stitchtent which helps designers meet wholesale demand so they can focus on their retail lines. Stitchtent is a service and marketplace that brings together the wholesale offering of multiple designers and allows stores to shop and order in one convenient setting.
Additionally, Ashley is the primary designer behind Prepsetter where she flexes her artistic muscles. She specializes in nostalgic canvases with an emphasis on timeless designs that celebrate everything from life milestones to collegiate staples.
Finally, she is also an owner of The Pine Needle, a needlepoint store in Vermont.
